The Omaha Beach Memorial Museum

The Omaha Beach Memorial Museum stands 200 meters from the sand at Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer, in the middle of the Omaha landing sector. Across 1,400 square meters, it follows the story chronologically from the German occupation to the American landing of June 6, 1944, and a 25-minute film carries the testimony of American veterans.

What You Will See

The collection runs to uniforms, weapons, personal effects, archive photographs, a landing craft, a 155mm gun, and a tank, arranged in reconstructed scenes. The veterans’ film covers the landings at Omaha and Pointe du Hoc and screens in English regularly. Plan about one hour; the museum suits children, and wheelchairs and strollers move through it easily. Do not confuse it with the Overlord Museum, which sits ten minutes east at the American Cemetery roundabout.
