The Overlord Museum

The Overlord Museum stands at the roundabout serving the Normandy American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer, 500 meters from Omaha Beach. It opened in 2013 and holds the collection of Michel Leloup, a Norman who spent forty years recovering material from the Normandy battlefields: more than 10,000 items, including some forty tanks, vehicles, and guns from the six armies that fought here.

What You Will See

The exhibition runs from the June 6 landings to the liberation of Paris in August 1944, told through life-size reconstructed scenes. The armor is the draw: a rare Panther tank, several Shermans, a FAMO half-track, and artillery pieces, most of them recovered from Norman soil. Plan 60 to 90 minutes; the museum pairs naturally with the American Cemetery across the roundabout.

2026 hours: 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. from February 14 through March and from October through December; 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in April, May, and September; 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. from June through August. The ticket office closes one hour before the museum, and the museum closes from January 5 to February 13 and on December 24, 25, and January 1.
